Can't say it doesn't work
I've been on Facebook for a week and I managed to get back in contact with Hikino, my ex-mate who dropped off the face of the Earth about 2 years ago. :) I'll admit it's pretty cool. Current Mood: happy | | 2:53 pm |
Username Unlocking the cloudsSounds all poetic and stuff, right? Would you believe me if I told you it's a quote from a finance magazine? I just remember skimming over the title and finding it quite beautiful. :) Current Mood: okayCurrent Music: None | | Thursday, June 18th, 2009 | | 2:48 pm |
holy crapezoid
I've been hanging on craigslist lately to meet some dirty old men try finding some copies of the Mario Party games for Gamecube, poised on getting the whole series. I already bought off MP7, and I responded to another ad saying they had MP5, and a couple of memory cards I needed to save my progress. And that second person turns out to be... Cnipur! OR Luchy, or Chano, whatever he goes my these days. And he was like "Sure, Stripes, 20$!" And I was like "holy shit XD" So yeah... Small world. :) Current Mood: amusedCurrent Music: Ur so gay - Katy Perry | | Monday, June 8th, 2009 | | 7:24 pm |

Connecting with the Powers That Be
I was talking on the phone with G about the movie we're going to see on Tuesday. Originally decided on Star Trek, I remembered Dance Flick was coming out last thursday, and it promised to be extremely stupid. Which is the kind of movie G and I watch together, to laugh at like retarded walruses. So he's saying: "it's got a 5/10 on the theater's rating, it can only be good!" And I'm like: "yeah, it's the kind of movie that will score something like a 3.2 on IMDB in its first weeks" So I check on IMDB for the kicks, and guess what: it's current rating is EXACTLY 3.2 :D And I thought was exagerating. X-Men Origins: Wolverine = No
I saw that movie yesterday. It sucks. I'm usually pretty easy to satisfy, but that movie was absolutely terrible. It starts out with a dream/flashback scene with kids playing young Wolverine and Sabretooth, in which Wolverine OMG KILLS HIS REAL FATHER WHEN HE'S LIKE 5-YEARS-OLD AND SABRETOOTH'S HIS BROTHER!!1! He also does it with bone claws growing out of his fists. Now, I ain't an expert on X-Men, but didn't his claws got installed articifially as an add-on to his adamantium skeleton? And also, the kids' acting sucks ass. And that whole scene way over-dramatic. Already at this point, Chris and I knew we were going to watch a big stinking turkey. So apparently Wolverine and Sabretooth fought EVERY SINGLE WAR ON EARTH side by side, got recruited but some officer to be part of an all-mutant squad, and of course, Wolverine is the only good guy who has morals and is reluctant to kill innocents, until he gets enough and walks away. At this point, we all wonder how more uninspired this movie can get. Sabretooth starts killing the old member squad, kills Wolverine's lover (not Yuriko, some useless girl named Kayla), so Wolverine goes on an epic journey to get revenge, and WAY TOO MANY TIMES we see Wolverine being all broody and butthurt, and all that inner struggle bullshit that's supposed to make us feel sympathetic for Wolverine, but all it does is make him look emo. The movie is was too cliché'd. From Wolverine walking away on explosion background to Wolverine walking in sunset with almost dead lover to young Wolverine screaming to the sky over dead father (looks very stupid) to old Wolverine screaming again to sky over dead bitch. Cliché Cliché Click Click. The movie also features the slowest-falling decapitated head. And in the end, Wolverine has his memories conveniently erased. Because shooting a brain that can regenerate only affects the memories. Also, Stryker couldn't have killed Kayla or himself at the end. If you counted the gunshots, his gun was empty. The movie is never GOOD, but some scenes are fun. The fight scenes. The rest is crap. Gambit is awesome, but you might as well just youtube his scenes. To make it short, the movie's full of fail, and I'm pretty sure of canon rape as well. Don't go see it. Current Mood: geeky | | Monday, May 11th, 2009 | | 10:26 am |
Keywords are poetry, mario galaxy, mother's day and friends
OI MATES. This week-end was pretty damn good. It started after work on friday where I happily bought myself a copy of Super Mario Galaxy for my new shiny Nintendo Wii system. I had been eyeing it for a bit but I didn't want to buy it before giving myself the chance to dig deeply into Mario Party 8. I also played a bit on saturday and a lot on sunday. I think it's a visually stunning game. Not overly difficult so far (except for fucking Sweet Sweet Galaxy). When I play it, I usually compare it with Super Mario 64, because they basic controls are pretty much the same, and the old jump system is reinstalled, after a bit of picking into something different in Mario Sunshine on Gamecube. The only thing I dislike in it, when compared to Mario 64, is that the levels are much more linear. When you choose a star, you can pretty much only obtain this particular star, as in Mario 64, you were pretty much left to wander around with an initial clue, and free to take whichever star was available. I am not disappointed though, it keeps making me want to play some more. Right now I mostly completed the Terrace Dome. I say mostly because there will probably be additional Prankster Comet stars on both galaxies there. As for the Fountain Dome, I'm at the third star of the Battlerock galaxy. I'm playing the way I usually play. Explore as much as possible before moving on to the next zone. So anyway. On saturday, I went to the release ceremony/show of the new college poetry book. We arrived late and unannounced, but they still let us in, just in time to skip the boring speeches and get on straight with the show. That's talent. The students had put about 8 poems in different kinds of music and dance. The first one was a rap, and it was awful, leaving Sandy and I fearing for our sanity by the end of the show. It got better, thankfully. ;) After that, we ate a few things, picked up t-shirts and plants, and made fun of terrible poems of past years' books. That's something Sandy and I can do together. We make fun of the same stupid thing for literally years. First there was a girl's name, then a dance troop's presentation text, and now a shitty poem about water. I hope you all spoiled your moms! I treated mine to japanese yesterday. We just bought a bunch of appetizers to have the vastest variety as possible. We filled two tables with small plates of food, it was pretty funny. And like last time, when we ate a full sukiyaki, I was very surprised we managed to eat it all. So that's how things are these days. I'm eager to get back home and play some more Mario Galaxy tonight. >_> It's almost guaranteed I'm gonna become infatuated with this game the same way I got with Super Mario 64. Username Because shup upThis is a quote from Yugioh Abridged Ep 39, where a member of the Kaiba Corp security asks why Ishizu Ishtar didn't predict that she'd be late for the finals and she replies "because shut up" which is hilarious when you consider how serious and solemn Ishizu is. Work your stomach off and other short stories
Today was my first supervised training at the Nautilus. Charles worked something out for me that's way more intense that I've ever done before. After 9 superseries of squats, push-ups, chin-ups and other fun things, I was feeling dizzy and slightly nauseous. In the end, I puked. XD I think I tried to impress Charles a little bit too much... But he was happy I gave too much than not enough. I'm feeling good now. Little vomit scent under the nose, but it's fine. In unrelated news, I gave my super choir concert on Saturday. Carmina Burana wasn't fully perfect, but the church was overpacked and the crowd loved it, they literally roared at the end, which is always nice. :) During the third movement, some huge sound of shattered glass boomed behind the stage. Apparently some large window had fallen off. It was freaky, but everyone kept his and her composure. In more unrelated news, I got a wii now! Well, by "now" I mean I got it about 3 weeks ago. Working on unlocking all unlockables in Mario Party 8. Hammer Bro pwns. So does Slowgo candy. Current Music: Wolfen - E Nomine | | Tuesday, April 28th, 2009 | | 9:21 am |
It's a new day
Left home today at 7:00 to go to the gym, to have them tell me my subscription ran out a week earlier than what I was told this week-end. I love getting up at 6 AM for nothing. BUT, pumped by this evil deception, I walked right into the Nautilus next to my workplace that I had been eyeing for month, and subscribed to it. FU UQAM sports center! The Nautilus better have decent eye candy too... *grins* Current Mood: busy | | 9:03 am |

Minor figure skating report :)
Right now, it's the figure skating world championship, held in Los Angeles. I haven't seen the last of every competition yet, but so far, Canada is doing allright. In couples, Dubé and Davison, last year bronze medalists, had a mediocre short program, and even with a better long program, they fell down to 7th. The German team of Savchenko and Szolkowy captured the gold, the chinese pair of Zhang and Zhang (not related) took the silver and russian pair of Kavaguti and Smirnov managed to get the bronze. Note that Kavaguti is actually Japanese, and her name was originally spelled Kawaguchi. I think she changed her competition name to make it sound more russian, which is pretty amusing. In the men competition, the frenchman Brian Joubert suffered from a fall at the very last jump of his long program and tumbled from first to third, letting canadian skater Patrick Chan to capture the silver while american skater Evan Lysacek won it all. It's an improvement for Chan after last year's bronze medal. In the dance event, the standings didn't change much during the competition. The russian pair of Domnina and Shabalin won and canadian pair of Virtue and Moir winded up in third after a disappointing original dance. What bothers me is the american pair of Belbin and Agosto winning the silver medal, after what I thought was a subpar free dance, with lifts that weren't even nearly as difficult as the other pairs, and a free dance that was everything but memorable. I was very disappointed at the inexperimented panel of judges for that. And so far for the ladies, Korean skater Yu-Na Kim leads after the short program with a monstrous lead, canadian Joanie Rochette stands second, barely a poin ahead of Japanese Mao Asada. According to bribes I heard on the radio, I think Rochette won a medal, but I'll only watch the competition tonight, so no spoiling. I foresee something in the lines of Kim/Asada/Rochette, or possibly -gasp- Kim/Rochette/Asada. Current Mood: bouncyCurrent Music: None | | Saturday, March 28th, 2009 | | 9:04 pm |

Awesome game to kill time
If you're with friends and that you need to kill time for a reason or another, here's an awesome game. I only played it with one other person, but I'm pretty sure it extends to 3 or 4. All you need are small items that you can hold in a closed fist, for example, change or small rocks. In case of a 1-on-1 match, give 3 rocks to each player. Every round, each secretly select a number of rocks, from zero up to the maximum he's holding. Then they place their rocks in their closed fist and hold them up. Then each player says how many rocks in total he thinks there are. The one who guesses correctly withdraws a rock from his lot. If neither player gets it right, they restart the round. The game continues until a player withdraws his last rock, winning the game. The player with the less rocks always chooses his total first. If both players have the same number of rocks remaining, they altern calling it first. For 3 players, each player can start with either 2 or 3 rocks, and you can make up your own rules for the order of calling the total. It's a really neat game that requires almost nothing, and that mixes luck with outwitting and discerning patterns. :) I found it in Bernard Werber's book "Le père de nos pères". I've been getting a decent dose of art lately, and I still have stuff that's coming. Slowly. Rest in peace
Today my mom brought our cat Carole to the veterinerian. She wasn't healthy and we knew it. In the end, she was put to sleep. She was almost 20-years-old, and 96-years-old in cat years. It's weird, because I don't really have memories of our appartment without Carole inside. Current Mood: nostalgicCurrent Music: A Tale - La Nouba, CDS | | Wednesday, February 25th, 2009 | | 9:10 pm |
Ottawa in a nutshell
I spent my first days of vacations in Ottawa this year, paying a visit to several people. Not being a fan of paragraphing anymore, I will list up the highlights. 1. I spent 4 nights in Ottawa, and never slept twice at the same place. First at dra_an_tier’s, second at Wi’s, third at alexxis_hart’s, last at Nanashi’s. I was hoping I could make a joke about this also being the order of increasing messiness of the appartments, but it’s sadly not the case. This order would rather be Wi, Lexx, Dra and Nanashi. :p 2.I always write poetry when I ride on buses, and this time I wrote one poem coming and one poem going, both in French. 3. Going shortly after the end of the bus strike, I was pleasantly surprised to see that most bus fares where half-off or even free! I bought 10 bus tickets on the first day (usually riding costs 2) and returned home with 8. 4. I got sick from drinking for the first time in my life. At Wi’s, after 12 heavy shots, ranging from Shnapps (24%) to Canadian Club whiskey (40%). I don’t even remember pouring myself the last one, and I thought all the vomiting was just a very bad dream. The Fireball, some 35% cinnamon-flavored whiskey, is horrible. 5. But I had to experience playing Rock Band while drunk, which is most fun. Probably not as much for Ral who was playing as well, totally sober. I also met SR, a pretty nice guy. :) Cute too, but with a serious acne problem. He got as sick as me. XD 6. So I pretty spent my Saturday at Lexx and Shade’s pretty much hungover. :p I was still fun though, we played Brawl and Mario Kart Wii, and I got my ass kicked repeatedly. 7. Next morning, we went for breakfast, and I ordered myself some chocolate chip pancakes, and the waitress asked me if I was hungover, because normally she likes eating very greasy food when she is (and the pancakes were VERY greasy). I thought it was rather funny, since I was indeed hungover the day before. 8. After sinning in alcohol, I gave another kick in my karma. Lexx's new job is to drive escorts from place to place, and for a few hours on saturday night, I was in the passenger seat keeping him company. XD Gasp, flirting with crime! 9. I completed the trifecta at Nanashi's place, where him and his roomie Dustin bonged copious amounts of pot. I didn't touch it, of course. ;) I also got to try out Street Fighter IV. It's pretty good, they stayed trued to the original arcade genre but enforced it with better graphics and sweet combos. We also watched Burn after reading, which is a rather unclassable movie. It oscillates between suspense and comedy. And ( Spoiler )!!11 I was like LOL WUT. That's all the interesting bits :) Current Mood: happyCurrent Music: Silence must be heard - Enigma | | 1:28 pm |
Username I seduce the high priestess!is a quote from the low-budget movie The Gamers: Dorkness rising that I watched at dra_an_tier's place this week-end. This movie is made of 20 carats awesome, and features Flynn, a bard with apparently a very high charisma stat, since he constantly sleeps with every woman they come across, even with his male friend's female character. The priestess moment is very funny because they're just getting their mission orders from the archbishop and he decides out of the blue to drag out the priestess and sex her up right there and then. Flynn: I seduce the high priestess! DM (outraged): She made her chastity vow! Flynn: really? *diceroll* aha! (Ottawa post and art post still coming) Current Music: None |
